First, the polyurethane (PU) coating features uniform thickness. The core under the bell head is made of 45# steel. The cross-section clearly shows the PU coating wraps evenly around the outer layer of the weight plate. This uniformity is no accident; it reflects precise control over pouring and curing reactions during production. Uneven PU coating will shift the weight plate’s center of gravity, compromising handling. In severe cases, it creates asymmetric stress on the bar sleeve.
Second, no delamination or debonding occurs at the joint between polyurethane and the steel core. There are no air bubbles, cracks or separation between PU and the steel core — this is the most critical quality standard for weight plates. Poor craftsmanship will cause the PU outer shell to peel off under repeated drop impacts. This not only shortens service life but also poses safety hazards.
