However, Baopeng Fitness Technology Co., Ltd. chose a more challenging path. Starting from a square dumbbell sheet that broke the convention, to the world’s first polyurethane vulcanization “eight-unit machine”, this enterprise located in Xinxi Town, Rudong County, Jiangsu Province, proved with each technological breakthrough that true competitiveness lies in the blueprints that others dare not modify.
Square dumbbell plates: A “counterintuitive” victory
Are dumbbell pieces always round? Baopeng’s answer was: Not necessarily.
A few years ago, the R&D team of BPFITNESS decided to break the industry’s conventional pattern and start developing square dumbbell plates. The innovation in appearance was just the surface; the real challenge lay in the molding process – the square structure imposed much higher requirements on mold precision, material fluidity, and uniform cooling compared to circular products. In the early stages of the research, the team repeatedly encountered setbacks in the process. At a critical moment, experts from the fitness equipment industry chain in Rudong County went deep into the workshop and lived and ate with the technical experts of BPFITNESS for a month. Eventually, they overcame the technical difficulties. This process was successfully applied for an invention patent, and after the product was launched to the market, it quickly received orders worth over 2 million yuan, with more than 200 tons of goods being sent to the US market every month.
Starting from the “squad-ball”, BPFITNESS has been continuously forging ahead on the path of innovation. Products such as “Huali Step Machine” and “Dongli New-Type Dumbbell” have successively obtained over 10 national patents.
“Eight-Channel Machine”: A Manufacturing Leap Behind One Device
BPFITNESS purchased the world’s first polyurethane vulcanization production equipment – the “Eight-Link Machine”. This equipment represents the cutting-edge level in the production of CPU dumbbells and barbell plates. Before this, the vulcanization process of polyurethane products had long relied on single-machine operation, which was inefficient and had poor consistency. The “Eight-Link Machine” achieved parallel vulcanization at multiple stations, not only significantly increasing the unit output, but more importantly, elevating the product consistency to a new level.
Relying on this equipment, BPFITNESS has developed a CPU dumbbell and barbell sheet product line that is at the leading level in China. In 2024, the company’s fitness equipment expansion and renovation project was approved. After completion and reaching full capacity, it is expected to annually increase the production of CPU fitness equipment by 5,000 tons, TPU fitness equipment by 1,000 tons, and rubber-coated fitness equipment by 5,000 tons. The entire factory will have a production capacity of 10,000 tons of CPU fitness equipment, 1,000 tons of TPU fitness equipment, and 5,000 tons of rubber-coated fitness equipment per year. This production scale has made BPFITNESS an important force in the fitness equipment manufacturing sector in East China.
If the square dumbbell plates represent a product-level innovation, then the introduction of the “eight-link machine” represents a qualitative change in manufacturing capabilities.
From Factory to Brand: The Dual Drive of BPFITNESS and VANBO.
When manufacturing capabilities have reached a certain level, the brand becomes a natural extension of the technological value output. Leveraging the fifteen-year manufacturing experience and quality control system of BPFITNESS Factory, the self-owned brand VANBO was born.
The VANBO brand continues the technical genes of BPFITNESS in terms of materials and craftsmanship, and in product design, it is more in line with the aesthetic preferences of end users. In recent years, the ENTHEON Series (a light luxury design combining walnut wood and stainless steel), the RIGOR Series (diamond-cut shape), the Colorful Electroplated Small Dumbbell, the commercial adjustable fitness bench, and several other storage racks have all received positive market feedback at professional exhibitions such as the China Sports Equipment Expo.
The product strategy of VANBO is clear: it does not pursue flashy additional functions, but instead, with solid workmanship, stable quality and reasonable pricing, it provides practical choices for gyms and home users. From dumbbells, bell plates to storage racks and fitness benches, the product line is gradually expanding, and a complete solution covering the core scenarios of strength training is being constructed.
Technical Accumulation: A 15-Year Progression from 2011 to 2026.
In March 2011, BPFITNESS was established in Xinxi Town, Rudong County, with an area of 28,000 square meters. Over the following ten years, the company has made several leaps from equipment importation to independent research and development: from 2013 to 2015, it independently developed vertical injection molding machines, breaking through the production bottleneck; from 2016 to 2017, the ERP system achieved digital production management; from 2018 to 2019, it launched the Peloton project in the US, and the workshop fully implemented 5S on-site management; from 2020 to 2023, it established an intelligent product research and development center and launched the brand project “VANBO”.
The company has successively been awarded titles such as “Quality and Integrity Demonstration Unit of Jiangsu Province”, “Jiangsu Province Technology-based Small and Medium-sized Enterprise”, and “Jiangsu Province High-Growth Small and Medium-sized Enterprise”. It has passed the ISO 9001:2015 quality management system certification and has been recognized as a high-tech enterprise.
In May 2025, BPFITNESS won the bid for Plot No. 1 in Xinxi Town, Rudong County with a price of 1.6217 million yuan. The total area of the plot is 4,383 square meters. The agreed start date is May 27, 2026. The expansion of the land provides space for the enterprise to enhance its production capacity in the future, and also indicates BPFITNESS‘s long-term determination to establish a solid foundation in the real economy and continue to invest.
From a square dumbbell plate to the world’s first “eight-machine system”, from a workshop in 2011 to the capacity expansion in 2026, BPFITNESS‘s fifteen years have followed a path of breaking industry norms through technological breakthroughs. This path is far from over.
